HCPS Game Jam🎮

Hello Game & Sim families! We are really excited to showcase all the hard work we’ve done this school year at the HCPS Game Jam. I made this FAQ style page to provide information about the trip.

What is this field trip?

It is the culminating event of all the work we’ve done thus far this school year. This event gives us the opportunity to compete with other schools through the submission of their video games to be judged.

How much does it cost for my child to attend this event? 💲

There will be no cost for students to attend this trip 🙂

Where is the event? 📍

The Regent
6437 Watson Rd, Riverview, FL 33578

Click here for the location on Google Maps

Who can go to this event? 🙋🏻

I am taking 10 students with me on this trip. I selected them based on the quality of the work they’ve done all year and the commitment they have demonstrated to our program.

When is the event? 🕰️

February 24, 2026 from 8:50am – 3:30pm

Students attending this trip must have transportation to get dropped off at school at 8:45am

Students need to be dropped off at the FRONT of Barrington by 8:45am.

We will be back to Barrington by approximately 3:30pm (before school ends), so students will be able to go home the way they normally would.

How does transportation work? 🚎

We’ll be driving there and back in Mr. Waraksa’s Toyota Sienna Minivan (it is on the approved vehicle list for Hillsborough County Schools).

If any other parents with vehicles on the approved list volunteer to drive, some students may drive with them in their vehicles.

Is it possible to be a chaperone on this trip? 👓

Yes, but since we are not taking a bus, you would have to drive yourself. If you drive yourself and also want to drive your child, your vehicle must be on the district approved list of vehicles for school-related activities. Click here to see the list of approved vehicles. If your vehicle is not on the approved vehicle list, you can still go, you would just have to drop your child off at Barrington first and then you could drive yourself and meet us at The Regent. I know it’s frustrating, but I have no control over these district policies.

In order to be a chaperone, you must also be a LEVEL 1 approved volunteer with the school district. Here’s information about becoming a district approved volunteer:

If you are interested in chaperoning for this trip please call or text me as soon as possible so I can make accommodations for you 🙂

How will food work during this trip? 🍔

  • Make sure your child has a refillable water bottle.
  • Pack 2 snacks.
  • Lunch will be provided (Chik-Fil-A sandwiches) but if your child has any food allergies or dietary constraints feel free to pack lunch.

I’m curious about what the kids will actually be doing at the event. Do you have any more detailed information about the event itself?

What if I have more questions about this trip that weren’t answered on this page?

You all have my phone number. Don’t hesitate to call or text if you have any additional questions 🙂
