University of Tampa Lowth Entrepreneurship Center Field Trip 💼

What is this field trip?

We are taking a tour of the Lowth Entrepreneurship Center at the University of Tampa. We will also be doing an activity called “Silicon Valley Start-ups” where students learn how to create and pitch a business concept in one day.

How much does it cost for my child to attend this event? 💲

There will be no cost for students to attend this trip 🙂

Where is the event? 📍

The University of Tampa
Maureen A. Daly Innovation and Collaboration Building
820 W North A St 8th Floor, Tampa, FL 33606

Who can go to this event? 🙋🏻

We are able to take 50 students from my business program with us on this trip. The students who get to go will be determined on a first come, first served basis. The first 50 students who turn in their completed field trip form (including signatures from parent/guardian and all teachers), will be the 50 students who get to go. The 8th graders in my Business Comm & Tech class will have first priority because they will get forms 1 day before I hand them out to my 7th graders in Computer Applications for Business 2.

When is the event? 🕰️

Friday November 14, 2025, from 9:30am – 3:30pm

This trip will happen during normal school hours, so you DO NOT have to make any special arrangements for transportation.

How does transportation work? 🚎

We will be taking a 56-passenger full size charter bus from Annett bus lines.

Is it possible to be a chaperone on this trip? 👓

Yes! We need 4 parent chaperones total for this trip (2 chaperones from each class). In order to be a chaperone, you must be a LEVEL 1 approved volunteer with the school district. Here’s information about becoming a district approved volunteer:

If you are interested in chaperoning for this trip please call or text me as soon as possible as there is only 5 positions available.

How will food work during this trip? 🍔

Quick Summary

  • Make sure your child has a refillable water bottle.
  • Pack 2 snacks.
  • You can either pack a lunch, or your child can eat at the University of Tampa Dining Hall ($14.35 + tax). Payment for lunch must be made on My Payments Plus (will send out a text when the payment option is made available on My Payments Plus).

Specific Details

  • WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO EAT ON THE BUS
  • Once we get to UT students will unload off the bus and eat their first snack before we start our tour (approximately 10:00am).
  • We’ll eat lunch at about 12:00pm. Follow the instructions below to see what food options are available at the dining hall.
    • Tap the link below to access the menu on the website.
    • Scroll down till you get to the horizontal calendar.
    • Tap the right arrow until the 14th shows up.
    • Tap the 14th, then tap lunch.
    • This will show you the many options that are available for lunch that day at this buffet style dining hall.
    • Tap here to access the dining hall website for the menu.
  • One thing to note: If your child brings their own lunch, they will not be allowed to eat in the dining hall (when I asked why, they said it was their policy due to having issues in the past with people taking food out). There is a separate area where they will be able to eat their lunch that will be under chaperone supervision.
  • After our “Silicon Valley Start-ups” activity, students will eat their second snack before we get on the bus for our drive home (approximately 3:00pm).

My child said it was ok for them to bring an electronic device on this trip, is that true? 🕹️

Yes, it is. We will be on the bus for about 45 min each way, so students are encouraged to bring something to help occupy their time.

Acceptable electronic devices include:

  • Phones
  • Tablets
  • Handheld gaming consoles (e.g., Nintendo Switch)

Headphones are required for any student wanting to listen to sound while they watch/play.

  • Students may not play sound through their device’s speakers.
  • If they do not bring headphones, their device must remain on silent or muted.

Students are also encouraged to bring a portable charger and charging cable to ensure their device stays powered during the trip.
